Agri-Extension Innovation Program

Farming in Manitoba and considering a pressing system? This is the funding program for you!

This program provides funds to farm and non-farm clients for the evaluation of innovative technology that will improve environmental sustainability, profitability and added value in farming. Local GO Teams will work directly with clients on Agri-Extension Innovation projects.

Eligible applicants include:

  • farmers
  • agri-processors
  • partnerships
  • co-operatives
  • corporations and communes

Applicants must lead the projects for which they apply. Priority will be given to technology-verification projects that demonstrate, evaluate and transfer the technology of proven innovations to the farm level. These include proven innovations in:

  • new crops (i.e. special kind of canola or soybean varieties for crushing)
  • new crop/livestock production methods and technologies (especially those providing new income sources, lower production costs and sustainable production). This could include custom crushing or sale of your pressed products, reducing your external feed costs by feeding your own protein meal and reducing your fuel and transportation requirements).

Funds are available for, but not limited to:

  • goods
  • shipping and transportation
  • services (such as per diems for presenters and laboratory testing)
  • promotion and advertising (up to $2,500 per project)
  • rental or lease of equipment or machinery
